Fil-Am nabbed for brod’s slay

After a two-year hunt, a Filipino-American wanted in the United States for the 1993 murder of his brother was finally arrested by the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) in Imus, Cavite yesterday.

The fugitive, Rolando Medina, 36, of Kodiak, Alaska, will be turned over to US authorities in Guam today, according to Ricardo Diaz, head of NBI’s International Police Division.

Diaz said Medina is wanted for bludgeoning his brother Carlo to death on May 1, 1993 in a forested site in Kodiak, Alaska. He later collected his brother’s $285,000 life insurance.

Medina denied the charges, claiming his other brother Jerry, who lives in Canada, had framed him up. — Mike Frialde
