CAMP SIONGCO, Maguindanao Combatants of the Armys 6th Infantry Division hoisted the Philippine flag yesterday on a fortified training camp of the New Peoples Army in a hinterland barangay in Magsasay, Davao del Sur.
Maj. Julieto Ando, 6th ID spokesman, said the rebels occupying the camp in Barangay Datal Leing fled after combined elements of the 25th and 57th Infantry Battalions surrounded the enclave.
Ando said the camp had trenches linking 15 shelters and bunkers. The soldiers found a 12-gauge shotgun, more than a dozen fragmentation grenades, 40 mm. shoulder-fired projectiles, four M-16 rifles and subversive documents. John Unson
