CEBU CITY The city council committee on laws has rejected a plan to legalize sidewalk vending in the downtown area for fear it would only worsen the traffic problem.
Committee members Manuel Legaspi, Procopio Fernandez, Carmelita Piramide and Jocelyn Pesquera said allowing sidewalk vending to be legalized on Osmena Boulevard, Leon Kilat, Magallanes, Legaspi, Colon and Pelaez streets as proposed by councilor Gerardo Carillo, chairman of the committee itself, might cause unwanted traffic congestion and inconvenience to the public.
