LAGANGILANG, Abra Government troopers discovered two large New Peoples Army (NPA) camps in Northern Luzon the other day as they were pursuing guerrillas who allegedly killed a militiaman during a clash in Langiden town last week.
Col. Juanito Dalmas, commanding officer of the Armys 17th Infantry Battalion based here, said they found an NPA training camp in Maratudo, Magsingal, Ilocos Sur and another camp reportedly used for NPA conferences at the boundary of Langiden town, this province, Magsingal in Ilocos Sur and Nueva Era in Ilocos Norte.
Both camps, however, were abandoned.
The training camp, probably abandoned one to two weeks ago, had 13 makeshift huts, a kitchen, a conference hall and a large training area for new recruits, Dalmas said. Artemio Dumlao
