BCDA head quits but...

CLARK FIELD, Pampanga — President Arroyo has accepted the resignation of Bases Conversion Development Authority (BCDA) chairman Rogelio Singson, but asked him to stay on at least up to March while his successor is named.

There is talk at the Clark Development Corp. (CDC), the BCDA’s implementing arm at Clark special economic zone (CSEZ), that former Executive Secretary Renato de Villa would replace Singson.

Max Sangil, a member of the CDC board of directors, confirmed Singson’s resignation, saying Singson wanted his resignation to take effect earlier this month but that the President asked him to remain until March.

Singson, who has been the BCDA chairman since the Ramos administration, held closed-door meetings with CDC officials the other day, apparently to inform them of his resignation and clarify talk that he was quitting due to his rift with CDC president and chief executive officer Emmanuel Angeles.
