Abducted Indian teenager found dead

CAMP OLIVAS, Pampanga — A 19-year-old Indian national, who was abducted by three unidentified armed men last Jan. 8, was found dead with several stab wounds in a creek in Lupao, Nueva Ecija last Saturday, police said.

The body of Gurdish Sukhal y Sarwan, a resident of Barangay Sto. Crisanto Sanchez in San Jose City, Nueva Ecija, was found by Arthur Tiqui, a councilman of Barangay Tienzo, who immediately informed the police about it.

Chief Superintendent Reynaldo Berroya, Central Luzon police director, said Sukhal’s remains were dumped in a shallow creek along the national highway in Barangay Tienzo.

Sukhal, who was engaged in the money-lending business, was collecting payment from a store in Barangay Sto. Rosario in Santo Domingo town when the kidnappers, said to be in their early 20s, accosted him.

The kidnappers forced Sukhal into his Suzuki Multi-cab which one of them drove toward the south.

Later that day, Sukhal’s parents received a phone call from the kidnappers demanding a P3-million ransom. Police could not say if the amount was paid.

Berroya ordered his investigation and intelligence men and the Nueva Ecija police to look deeper into the case.

In recent months, a number of Indian nationals have been abducted in the region, some suspects of which turned out to be Indian nationals themselves.
