DAVAO CITY The Supreme Court has issued a temporary restraining order (TRO) stopping the Commission on Elections (Comelec) from carrying out its Dec. 4 resolution nullifying the municipal election results in Glan, Sarangani.
Romeo Jardenico, Region 11 director of the Department of the Interior and Local Government, said the Comelec order voiding the election of Glan Mayor Enrique Yap, the vice mayor and all councilors has sown tension in the town.
Jardenico said the DILG was about to step it into the matter when Undersecretary Eduardo Solaiman appointed Zorayda Labus, its local officer in Glan, as the towns officer-in-charge pending the Comelecs resolution of the case.
However, the Supreme Court issued the TRO last Dec. 24 and it prevented Labus from assuming as OIC. Edith Regalado
