Ex-PC man faces raps over exposé

CEBU CITY — The accuser is now the accused.

Former Constabulary man Manuel Omega, who has linked two former Customs officials and the son of a former mayor to a 1995 cocaine deal, now faces two charges in the prosecutor’s office: one for libel and the other, for lying under oath.

Retired Customs collector David Odilao Jr. and Paul Alcazaren, whom Omega accused of brokering a 61-kilo cocaine deal, filed the perjury charge the other day.

Aside from the perjury complaint and a P20-million libel suit, Odilao and Alcazaren are also expected to sue Omega for extortion.

Odilao said Omega allegedly offered to withdraw his affidavit for a price of P50,000.

Omega also linked Mark Wiegel, eldest son of former Lapu-Lapu City mayor Ernest Wiegel, to the drug smuggling. — Freeman News Service
