‘Vandolph was supposed to be in school’

- Jose Aravilla -
Former child star Vandolph Quizon was supposed to be in school when his F-150 pick-up truck figured in a major accident in Pangasinan Monday afternoon.

His stepfather, Parañaque City Mayor Joey Marquez, said Vandolph did not inform him or his wife, former actress Alma Moreno (Vanessa Marquez in real life), of his plan to go to Baguio with three companions.

"He was supposed to be in school, I do not know if Ness knows it (the trip to Baguio) but I was not informed," he said.

Vandolph was placed in the intensive care unit (ICU) of the Makati Medical Center late Monday after he was airlifted from the Sacred Heart Hospital in Urdaneta, Pangasinan.

His condition is being closely monitored by Marquez and his mother.

"We are all here (at the hospital). We are still waiting word from his doctors... Ness (Moreno’s nickname) is very tense and worried," Marquez said over the phone.

Marquez has yet to know the full details of the accident that left Vandolph and girlfriend Eccie Alquiza, both 16 years old, in coma. He said his initial information was that Vandolph’s Ford F-150 pick-up "looked like an accordion" after figuring in a head-on crash with an Isuzu Elf truck.

Reports from Pangasinan said Vandolph, Alquiza and two others were on board the child actor’s pick-up, cruising along the national highway in Barangay Rosario, Pozurrubio, Pangasinan. Vandolph allegedly tried to overtake a slow-moving vehicle and collided with the approaching truck.

The driver and passenger of the truck were also seriously hurt.
