The Department of Justice filed charges with the Regional Trial Court of Iba, Zambales yesterday against three Chinese nationals arrested last Nov. 15 while transporting P668 million worth of shabu.
State prosecutor Pablo Formaran III recommended no bail for suspects Cai Hong Ze alias Edwin Hong Chua, 35; Henry Tan alias Eddie Tan, 32; and William Chua alias William Cheng, 36.
Formaran said prosecutors are still studying whether they will petition the Supreme Court to transfer the venue of the case because of the huge volume 335.5 kilos of the seized illegal drug.
The three Chinese were arrested at a police checkpoint in Barangay Alusiis in Zambales. They were aboard two Toyota Revo vans.
Police believe the three belong to an international drug syndicate with links to Hong Kong triads and criminal syndicates in the country. Delon Porcalla
