Bahrain prime minister due for state visit

-
Bahrain Prime Minister Shaikh bin Salaman Al Khalifa is arriving in the country for a three-day state visit on Nov. 6-9, the Department of Foreign Affairs said.

On top of Khalifa’s agenda are areas for mutual support and cooperation to expand relations between the two countries.

President Arroyo is expected to discuss with Khalifa the opening of a Bahrain embassy in the Philippines.

The two countries formally forged diplomatic ties in the 1980s. The Philippines set up its embassy in Bahrain on April 18, 1992.
