Tan foundation donates P15-M gym to CLSU

-
SCIENCE CITY OF MUÑOZ, Nueva Ecija — The Tan Yan Kee Foundation (TYKF) proved anew its commitment to provide the youth quality education when it donated a multi-purpose gym to the Central Luzon State University (CLSU) to enhance the learning environment of students.

Businessman Lucio Tan, TYKF chairman, assisted by City Mayor Nestor Alvarez and CLSU president Rodolfo Undan, led last Wednesday’s ground-breaking ceremony, highlighted by the lowering of a time capsule for the P15-million, 2,184-square-meter gym, which the TYKF donated.

TYKF, named after Tan’s late father, has been at the forefront of assisting in the upliftment of the quality of life of Filipinos through its multimillion-peso scholarship grant at the University of the East; the continuing "Books Across the Seas" book donation program nationwide; the Foundation for Upgrading the Standard of Education’s nationwide teacher training programs and Continuing Studies via Television (Constel); and other health and educational programs to various institutions.

"On this site, we will soon see a multi-purpose gym that will house many activities for the students of CLSU. I am most pleased to keep the memory of my late father remembered well in acts of generosity, especially for young students who will one day be leaders of this country," he said.
