P8-M police payroll lost to robbers in Vizcaya

SOLANO, Nueva Vizcaya The Land Bank branch here lost an P8-million police payroll to highway robbers who flagged down its service vehicle carrying the cash on its way to another branch in neighboring Ifugao yesterday morning, authorities said.
Reports said six heavily armed men flagged down Land Banks vehicle along an isolated stretch of the national highway in Barangay Bolog in Kiangan town.
The stolen cash was for the salaries of police personnel in Ifugao.
The amount was withdrawn from the Land Banks branch here and was to be deposited at its branch in Lagawe, Ifugao, a one-hour drive from this town.
The robbers fled toward Nueva Vizcaya aboard a Mitsubishi van, leaving behind the two bank employees and their two police escorts. Charlie Lagasca
