Oil spill hits Rizal town
August 8, 2001 | 12:00am
Authorities in Teresa, Rizal are doing everything to contain oil from a cement plant which has spilled into the Teresa-Morong River, destroying crops and posing health risks to residents of four Morong barangays.
Initial investigation showed that the oil spill resulted from the alleged illegal disposal by the Fortune Republic cement plant in Barangay Dulongbayan in Teresa town.
Morong Mayor George Bernardo vowed to take legal action against the cement plant if officials of Teresa town fail to act on the problem soon.
Bernardo said he will ask the Laguna Lake Development Authority to investigate the oil spill. Non Alquitran
