Barbers’ son faces BI complaint

-
The Bureau of Immigration will investigate allegations that Surigao del Norte governor-elect Robert Lyndon Barbers, son of Sen. Robert Barbers, is allegedly an American citizen.

The allegations were raised by the young Barbers’ closest rival, Ernesto Matugas, in a petition filed yesterday with the bureau by the latter’s legal counsel, former immigration commissioner Homobono Adaza.

Adaza said Barbers violated the Immigration Act when he failed to secure a working visa when he was appointed director of the National Capital Region of the Department of Tourism in July 1997.
