P93-M shabu evidence stolen from Mindoro regional court

CAMP VICENTE LIM, Laguna — Some 46.6 kilos of shabu worth about P93.2 million were allegedly stolen from the evidence room of the Regional Trial Court (RTC) in Mamburao, Occidental Mindoro last Sunday.

Reports reaching this camp showed that a certain Manny Malunes, a utility man discovered the evidence room was ransacked after the iron grills of the back portion of the RTC building were destroyed.

It was later found out that 46.6 kilos of shabu, which were kept inside a compartment for court’s custody as evidence were missing.

The robbers reportedly entered the destroyed iron grills and managed to open the door of the evidence room.

The stolen shabu is part of the evidence in criminal case number Z-1038 against Chi Chan Lui, alias "Chan Que"; and Sui Chong, alias "Leufe Shinglao," both arrested crewmen of a boat which sank off Lubang island in December 1999.

Chief Superintendent Domingo Reyes Jr., police regional director for Southern Tagalog, sent yesterday a crack police team to Mamburao to help local police in digging deeper in to the case.
