Cebuano guard dies foiling rob attempt at poultry farm

CEBU  A security guard redeemed the other day the tarnished image of his profession by giving up his life in defense of the establishment which he was duty-bound to protect.
Nicolas Dublin was killed by two men when he foiled their attempt to rob the Robina Farms in Balud, San Fernando shortly before 4 a.m. Thursday.
Dublin, 41, of the Cebu Security Agency, was stabbed repeatedly by the would-be robbers whom he tried to subdue and arrest.
SPO2 James Sacramento of the San Fernando police said Dublin caught the two men in the act of stealing chicken from the poultry farm.
Sacramento said police have suspects but are withholding their names pending arrest, saying only that they are local boys.
What Dublin sacrificed his life for was a profession that only days ago was tarnished when another security guard in Lapu-Lapu City, Jerry Gabo, robbed the very store he was guarding and shot dead the cashier when she refused to give the money.
That Gabo continues to elude arrest has further placed the police in a tight situation, especially since prior to the incident, the Lapu-Lapu police were roundly criticized for failing to intercept the six robbers of the Land Bank of the Philippines branch in Talibon, Bohol who fled by boat to Mactan.  Freeman News Service
