Rebel leader in Estrada son’s ambush falls

GUAGUA, Pampanga — Police arrested here yesterday a leader of the communist faction Rebolusyonaryong Hukbo ng Bayan (RHB) who is facing frustrated homicide and murder charges over the ambush of the group of former President Estrada’s son Jojo Ejercito and Sasmuan Mayor Catalino Bagasina on May 23 last year.

Senior Superintendent Ismael Rafanan, provincial police director, said Amador Guevarra, alias Ka Basil, alleged to be the RHB’s area commander in Western Pampanga, was tagged as having led the ambush along the Pampanga River in Sasmuan town.

Guevarra was reported to have succeeded Bartolome Quizon, alias Ka Jobay, former top RHB commander who was executed by rival New People’s Army (NPA) in Mexico town last December. — Ding Cervantes, Ric Sapnu
