Alert on for vessel with toxic wastes

The Department of Environment and Natural Resources alerted all ports in the country yesterday on a Korean vessel allegedly carrying 8,000 metric tons of sulfuric acid.
Citing intelligence reports, acting Environment and Natural Resources Secretary Joemari Gerochi said the vessel will arrive in Isabel, Leyte on April 2 to 10 to dump the toxic wastes.
"Such shipments must comply with the requirements of Republic Act 6969 and its implementing rules and regulations," Gerochi said.  Nikko Dizon
