Baguio priest: No reports on sex

-
BAGUIO CITY — The administrator of the Baguio-Benguet Catholic diocese said he has not received any report of local priests preying on nuns for sexual favors in his 20 years in the priesthood.

But Fr. Andy Cosalan, a diocesan priest and parish priest of the Baguio Cathedral, vowed to "verify" the matter at the local level.

Cosalan said such incidents were reported in "the past five years" in Congo and India where nuns were allegedly not only molested but also killed.

There are about 35 to 40 priests, both diocesan and belonging to five congregations, in Baguio and Benguet, serving 22 parishes, seven of them here.

Cosalan said religious sisters and nuns in the diocese number more than priests, and belong to 10 to 15 congregations.
