Aunor’s apartment in Iriga City strafed

IRIGA CITY, Camarines Sur — Singer-actress Nora Aunor, the gubernatorial candidate of the People Power Coalition (PPC), was forced to leave her apartment in Barangay San Miguel here and move to a safehouse after still unidentified men strafed it last Tuesday afternoon.

Nora’s camp refused to issue a statement to the media about the strafing of the apartment, which the PPC uses as campaign headquarters. It could not be ascertained if she was inside the house during the attack.

The actress, Nora Villamayor in real life, is running against re-electionist Gov. Luis Villafuerte.

Iriga police chief Edgar Agar said they still have no clues about the incident, although he is not discounting the possibility that it was politically motivated.

"But we have to thoroughly investigate this (incident) before we can come up with a conclusion whether it is politically motivated or not," he said.

Inspector Edgar Ballarda, the officer-on-case, said the attackers who were aboard an Expedition shot Aunor’s apartment thrice at about 1:10 p.m. last Tuesday, hitting the glass windows and door.
