More abductions set in General Santos?

-
GENERAL SANTOS CITY – Government forces launched pursuit operations against members of a kidnap-for-ransom syndicate who abducted the daughter of a bank executive here last March 3.

This developed as the 20-year-old victim, who was rescued last Sunday, bared the kidnap men’s alleged plot to abduct more people from wealthy families in this city.

Janice Glenda Sinda, rescued by authorities Sunday afternoon at Barangay Lun Padidu, Malapatan town in Saranggani province, said her abductors have actually planned to seize more affluent individuals within the next few weeks.

She said her captors had asked her for some background information on their "targets" and even showed her their photographs.

"They (kidnap men) asked me about the background of some wealthy families in the city whom they consider possible targets," she said. But Sinda refused to give the men any details, saying she was not famililar with those people.

The identities of the possible targets were withheld for security reasons.

Sinda is a senior student at the Philippine Women’s College in Davao City and daughter of Consumer Savings Bank manager Lowell Sinda. Her abductors were forced to leave her in a forested area after 15 days of keeping her due to pressure from pursuing troops.

No ransom was paid for her release, but her family admitted giving a "minimal amount for board and lodging." – Allen Estabillo
