Market rap clarified

The operator of an Antipolo City market, earlier reported to be owned by actress Lorna Tolentino, dared a local official yesterday to show proof that the establishment has unsanitary operations.

Antipolo councilor Eva Querubin, after an ocular inspection, threatened to padlock the Cogeo Dry and Wet Market and four other markets for failing to maintain cleanliness in their slaughterhouses and other areas.

Elena Orosa, president of the Cogeo Market Venture Corp. (CMVC), which operates the market, denied any violations of sanitary and health regulations.

She said Tolentino is only a "marginal stockholder," owning a mere 10 percent of CMVC’s total stocks.
