Cop goes berserk; 2 dead, 1 hurt

TAYUG, Pangasinan — A policeman, known to be trigger-happy when drunk, went berserk after a drinking bout the other night, killing a colleague and wounding another.

But the suspect himself, SPO2 Narciso Navarro, 44, was killed in the melee. Investigation showed that Navarro and colleagues SPO1 Rogelio Julian, 36, and PO3 Alex Juanitez had a drinking bout at the Sta. Maria police station, where they were all assigned, after which they asked to go to Tayug to buy something.

Along the way, Navarro, without any provocation, pulled out his caliber .45 pistol and fatally shot Julian in the head and wounded Juanitez in the nape. Police said Juanitez might have shot Navarro. — Eva de Leon, Cesar Ramirez
