Virgilio Piñon, 39, general manager of a Taiwanese company in Valenzuela City, was entering his house at 5:30 a.m. when the gunmen fired at him at close range.
The killers sped away aboard a white Mitsubishi Lancer, which did not carry any license plate.
Chief Superintendent Lucas Managuelod, Southern Tagalog police director, said the killers spared Piñon’s wife.
Managuelod said Piñon suffered multiple gunshot wounds and died while being rushed to the St. James Hospital in Cabuyao.
Meanwhile, a policeman was killed and his partner was critically wounded after they were ambushed by suspected communist guerrillas in a remote barangay in Quezon yesterday.  Jaime Laude
