Cop’s snore aired live nationwide

CEBU CITY — A city policeman was not only caught sleeping while on duty but his snore was literally heard nationwide after it was aired live on radio station dyRH of the Manila Broadcasting Co.

Reporters Santi Ortiz, Erwin Dano and Lito Solibaga of dyRH Aksyon Radyo, MBC’s local station, dropped by the Fuente police station at 4 a.m. Friday to check on the blotter when they came upon SPO2 Eduardo Morga, the night desk officer, sound asleep on a bench.

The reporters could not check the blotter because Morga used the book as pillow.

Recalling that this was not the first time they caught Morga sleeping on the job, the reporters decided to report the matter on air and had his snore broadcast live.

The same reporters also caught him sleeping on the job three weeks ago.

Morga woke up at exactly 4:24 a.m. as timed by the reporters who asked him why was sleeping when he was supposed to be still on duty.

Morga said on air that he had a toothache and had apparently fallen asleep because of the pain.

He added that his tendency to fall asleep was probably because of his weight.

When told that his tendency to sleep on duty could get him into trouble, Morga, still on air, said he would not mind being dismissed since he failed to pass anyway the physical fitness program of the Philippine National Police. Freeman News Service
