Bomb try on tower of Napocor thwarted

ILIGAN CITY  Alert villagers thwarted yesterday a bombing try on a transmission tower of the National Power Corp. (Napocor).
Police believe the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) planted the three bombs at the tower in Barangay Bonbonon because the explosives were similar to those the separatist group had used in past attacks.
Explosive experts defused the bombs minutes before they could go off. Had they exploded, at least half of Northern Mindanao, including the cities of Butuan and Cagayan de Oro, the Agusan provinces, Misamis Oriental and Bukidnon, could have experienced blackout, said Senior Superintendent Rogelio Nuñeza, city police chief.  Lino de la Cruz
