Davao sports dome issue reaches SC

DAVAO CITY — The controversy surrounding the construction of the P300-million Artica Sports Dome here has heightened as the rift between the city government and the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) has reached the Supreme Court.

The DENR has questioned in the High Court the issuance of temporary restraining orders against the department by two regional trial court judges here.

The DENR’s Mines and Geosciences Bureau has insisted that city officials need to secure an environmental compliance certificate because the project site sits on a fault line.
