LEGAZPI CITY Two New Peoples Army rebels and a policeman were killed Sunday in a firefight when the NPA rebels raided the PNP Kababayan Center in Barangay Tandaay, in Nabua town, Camarines Sur Sunday.
Alert policemen manning the center repulsed the attack but SPO1 Pedro Astrologo was hit in the neck during the firefight which lasted for about 40 minutes, said Bicol police Regional Director Marcelo Navarro.
Two unidentified dead NPA rebels are still unclaimed at the center as of presstime.
Navarro said 60 NPA rebels on board a truck and three jeepneys tried to sneak into the police outpost at about 4:20 p.m. but policemen, who were warned of the impending attack, shot it out with the NPA rebels who withdrew towards Barangay Orsidaw in Nabua town and Barangays Paisong and Kili in nearby Bula town.
