Estrada convenes rehab body

DAVAO CITY — President Estrada is set to hold here today the third meeting of the Mindanao Coordinating Council (MCC) which is tasked to oversee the government’s rehabilitation program in areas ravaged by the armed conflict between the military and Moro rebel forces.

The heads of the different MCC task forces as well as concerned national agencies are expected to update the President on various aspects of the rehabilitation program.

Mr. Estrada will witness today’s signing of a memorandum of agreement between the National Anti-Poverty Commission and the Mindanao Economic Development Council (Medco) for a joint communication and working arrangement aimed at enhancing the delivery of basic services in Mindanao.

The President is reportedly visiting Cagayan de Oro City this morning before proceeding to Davao City. He will spend the night aboard the BRP Ang Pangulo docked at the Sasa wharf here.

The President will then proceed to Siargao Island in Surigao del Sur before returning to Manila tomorrow.— Edith Regalado
