MANILA, Philippines — A casino pit supervisor was arrested in Quezon City on Monday for allegedly orchestrating a “ghost points” scheme that defrauded patrons of thousands of illicit gaming credits.

The suspect, known only as Jovin, was nabbed at a casino in Barangay Bagong Pag-asa, according to Quezon City Police District director Brig. Gen. Randy Glenn Silvio.

Probers said the 33-year-old casino employee manipulated the system by assigning unauthorized gaming points to inactive player accounts.

Silvio said the scheme resulted in around 9,900 gaming points credited in two hours to recipients who did not participate in legitimate gaming activities.

Security personnel of the casino arrested the suspect after he admitted he initiated the scheme without the consent of his employer.

The suspect is facing a case of qualified theft before the city prosecutor’s office.
