Marcos Jr.due in Cebu today
CEBU, Philippines — President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. is set to visit Cebu on Monday, June 22, for a series of official engagements highlighting his administration’s priorities on infrastructure development, disaster resilience, and food security.
The President’s first stop will be the ongoing construction of the Metro Cebu Expressway Segment 3A in Barangay Cansang-an, City of Naga. The project forms part of the government’s flagship transport infrastructure program aimed at decongesting traffic in Metro Cebu and improving connectivity along the province’s southern corridor.
Marcos will then proceed to Barangay San Isidro in Talisay City to inspect the rehabilitation of the Mananga River, a key component of the government’s flood control and river management efforts. The project seeks to mitigate flooding risks in nearby communities, particularly during periods of heavy rainfall.
The President’s final engagement will be at the “Walang Gutom” Kitchen at Pier 4 in Cebu City. The initiative is part of the administration’s anti-hunger campaign, providing daily meals to vulnerable and low-income residents in urban communities.
Expected to join the President are Department of Public Works and Highways Secretary Vivencio B. Dizon, Department of Social Welfare and Development Secretary Rex T. Gatchalian, Department of Trade and Industry Secretary Maria Cristina Aldeguer-Roque, and other government officials, who will provide updates on the status and progress of the projects.
The Philippine Information Agency (PIA) said the visit underscores the administration’s continuing focus on expanding infrastructure, strengthening disaster preparedness, and enhancing social welfare programs in Cebu, one of the country’s key economic hubs.
Marcos last visited Cebu on May 8, 2026, during the opening of the 48th ASEAN Summit and related engagements, where he emphasized the importance of regional cooperation and economic stability while welcoming ASEAN leaders and other world dignitaries. (CEBU NEWS)
