MANILA, Philippines — Pormal nang inilunsad ang EJK Truth Commission, isang independent at civil group na magsisilbing truth-seeking body para sa pagdodokumento ng extrajudicial killings (EJK) at iba pang kaugnay na pang-aabuso sa Pilipinas.

Kasabay ito nang halos isang dekada mula nang lumawak ang drug war killings noong 2016, kung saan libu-libong pamilya pa rin ang naghahanap ng katotohanan, hustisya, at paghilom.

Magsisilbing adviser ng Komisyon si Cardinal Pablo Virgilio David o Cardinal “Ambo” David upang tiyakin ang integridad, kalayaan, at kredibilidad ng grupo.

Ayon kay Raul Pa­ngalangan, chairman ng Komisyon, layunin nitong marinig, mabeberipika, at mapreserba ang mga testimonya ng mga biktima, survivor, at kanilang pamilya.

Kabilang din sa mga commissioner ay sina Raquel Fortun, Al Fuertes, Daniel Franklin Pilario, at Carlos Conde. Magsasagawa ang Komisyon ng Public Truth Hearings upang maidokumento ang mga karanasan ng mga biktima at matukoy ang epekto ng karahasan sa lipunan.

Maghahanda rin ito ng mga rekomendasyon at ulat para sa mga ahensya tulad ng Commission on Human Rights, National Police Commission, Department of Justice, at National Bureau of Investigation.
