Poultry imports mula Argentina, bawal – DA
MANILA, Philippines — Pansamantalang ipinagbawal ng Department of Agriculture (DA) ang pag import ng Pilipinas ng domestic at wild birds mula sa bansang Argentina dahil sa kumpirmadong outbreak ng highly pathogenic avian influenza (H5N1) sa naturang bansa.
Kasama sa import ban ang pagpapasok sa Pilipinas ng poultry meat, day-old chicks, itlog at semen para sa artificial insemination mula sa Argentina dulot nang pag usbong ng naturang virus sa northern region ng Buenos Aires.
“We are imposing the import ban because the H5N1 subtype poses a serious risk to both poultry and public health. As directed by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., the DA must protect not only food security but also public health.” Ayon kay DA Secretary Francisco Tiu Laurel Jr.
Inatasan na rin ng DA ang Bureau of Animal Industry (BAI) na suspendihin ang lahat ng alokasyon at issuance ng sanitary at phytosanitary import clearances para sa poultry commodities mula Argentina.
