Fire hits slum area in Parañaque
MANILA, Philippines — A fire of unknown origin broke out at a slum area in Parañaque City yesterday morning.
The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) said the blaze started at around 9:45 a.m. at the Puyat Compound in Barangay Tambo.
The fire destroyed several shanties before it was declared under control at past 11 a.m., according to the BFP.
Firefighters encountered difficulty in penetrating the site because of narrow roads.
Arson probers have yet to determine the cause of the fire, which created a traffic jam along Quirino Avenue after the area was closed to motorists.
