Kian’s neighbor finds purse with shabu
MANILA, Philippines - A neighbor of Kian delos Santos, the 17-year-old student slain in the drug war in Caloocan City, found a coin purse containing shabu near a busted water pipe yesterday afternoon.
Rolando Libiran, of Barangay 160 in Sta. Quiteria, said he discovered a wallet with three sachets of shabu while a Maynilad worker was fixing the water pipe at past 3 p.m.
Libiran, whose house was near the place where Kian’s wake is being held, said he turned over the drugs to authorities.
Bato visits NPD
Meanwhile, Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Director General Ronald dela Rosa visited the officers of the Northern Police District (NPD) yesterday.
NPD director Senior Superintendent Roberto Fajardo and Chief Inspector Amor Cerillo, head of the Police Community Precinct 7, were relieved from their posts following the death of Delos Santos in an anti-drug operation on Aug. 16.
Dela Rosa talked to members of the NPD to boost their morale.
“He assured us that the PNP leadership is behind the officers and men of the NPD. He told us to just do our job,” a police official, who refused to be named, said.
Dela Rosa was met by newly designated NPD officer-in-charge Chief Superintendent Amando Clifton Empiso, Fajardo as well as the police chiefs of Caloocan, Malabon, Navotas and Valenzuela.
Except for some arrests, the NPD has not recorded any shooting or encounter with drug suspects since the death of Delos Santos.
