3 hurt as bus, motorbike collide in QC

MANILA, Philippines – Three motorcycle riders were injured after their vehicle crashed into a passenger bus in Quezon City early Tuesday morning.

Police said a Florida bus (AAK-1952) driven by Michaelle Santos was traversing E. Rodriguez Avenue when it collided with the motorcycle at around 4:30 a.m.

The bus hit the right portion of the motorcycle at the intersection of Araneta Avenue, traffic probers said.

Santos admitted that he was driving fast but said he was not beating the red light, according to Superintendent Ritchie Claraval, head of the Quezon City Police District’s traffic enforcement unit.

Claraval said motorcycle driver Richard Alan and his female companion were rushed to the Delos Santos Medical Center. The other victim was brought to the East Avenue Medical Center.

Santos is being held at the Traffic Sector 4 detention cell on charges of reckless imprudence resulting in multiple injuries and damage to property.
