Woman hangs self in Manila

MANILA, Philippines – A 31-year-old woman hanged herself in Sta. Ana, Manila after she reportedly failed to pay her house rent over the weekend.  

Police identified the suicide as Mary Grace Albarracin.

Albarracin was discovered lifeless in her room by Michelle Ann Parado, owner of the house, at past 6 p.m. on Saturday, according to Senior Inspector Rommel Anicete, Manila Police District homicide unit chief.

Parado said she sought the help of her two male boarders and rushed Albarracin to the Sta. Ana Hospital, where the victim was declared dead on arrival.

Reports said Albarracin and her partner were heard quarreling over the rent prior to the suicide.
