Boy, 12, drowns in Manila Bay

MANILA, Philippines - A 12-year-old boy drowned while fishing in Manila Bay Sunday afternoon.

Police said a man tried to rescue JR Casbadillo by pulling him out of the water. But the boy was declared dead on arrival at the Gat Andres Bonifacio Hospital.

Prior to the incident, Police Officer 3 Michael Maraggun of the Manila Police District homicide section said Casbadillo told his father that he and his friends were going to fish at the breakwater on Isla Puting Bato in Tondo.

The boy’s friends told Maraggun that he slipped while they were fishing and
drowned.
