MIAA urged: Disclose terminal fee revenue

Rudy Santos - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines – The Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) should bare how much it has earned from the P550 terminal fee integrated into the cost of airline tickets since Feb. 1, 2015, a recruitment consultant said yesterday.

While the law exempts overseas Filipino workers from paying the terminal fee, the policy has made it difficult for OFWs to refund the terminal fee they paid, Emmanuel Geslani said.

Many OFWs have posted on Facebook that they are required to present their overseas employment certificate, an itemized fare ticket showing proof they paid the terminal fee and their boarding pass.

This process requires them to go to various counters before they can refund their terminal fee payment from the Land Bank of the Philippines cashier.

Many no longer bother to get their refund, Geslani said.
