CSC taps college students in drive vs red tape

Michael Punongbayan - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines – The Civil Service Commission (CSC), hoping to involve the country’s youth in striving for good and honest governance, recently launched the Anti-Red Tape Act (ARTA) logo and poster-making and video production contests for college students.

With the theme, “#KontraRedTape: Kabataan, Kaakibat sa Mahusay na Pamamahala,” the agency asked for creative inputs from the youth on what constitutes good governance, anti-corruption and social accountability.

The competition was opened to college students nationwide, with the submission of entries ending yesterday. Cash prizes await three grand winners, one each from Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao.

Winners for Luzon will receive their awards on Jan. 25 during the ARTA Caravan, which will be held at the University of the Philippines in Diliman, Quezon City.

Meanwhile, winners for the Visayas and Mindanao will get their awards on Feb. 2 at the Eastern Visayas State University in Tacloban City, and on Feb. 8 at the Mindanao University of Science and Technology in  Cagayan de Oro City.

“We are involving our students in the fight against red tape to instill social accountability. We encourage them to be the vigilant eyes that watch government efficiency,” CSC Chairperson Alicia de la Rosa-Bala said.

The CSC has been spearheading the campaign against red tape in government agencies and offices.
