Cop held for drugs

MANILA, Philippines – A policeman and his companion were arrested after two sachets of shabu were reportedly found on their persons in Tondo, Manila Monday night.

Police Officer 1 Marvin Granada, 32, and Edison Diaz, 27, were standing at the corner of Solis street and Dagupan Extension at around 7:30 p.m. when police officers on patrol noticed them.

Though Granada – who is detailed at the National Capital Region Police Office-Holding Administrative Unit in Bicutan, Taguig City – identified himself as a police officer, the policemen from Manila Police District (MPD) Station 7 frisked them.

Drug charges were filed against Granada and his companion. MPD director Chief Superintendent Rolando Nana ordered Granada subjected to drug testing.
