Drugs eyed in Malabon, Caloocan shootings
MANILA, Philippines – A drug deal gone sour reportedly led to the shooting of a 26-year-old man in Malabon City Thursday night.
Julius Arogante, of Phase 3-E2, Dagat-Dagatan in Barangay Longos, was hanging out with his friends at the corner of Maya-Maya and Alupihan streets when an unidentified man approached him and shot him in the head.
The gunman fled after the attack.
Bystanders rushed Arogante to the Tondo General Hospital. He was transferred to the Jose Reyes Memorial Medical Center, where he was listed in critical condition.
City police chief Senior Superintendent Severino Abad said they were checking reports that the victim was involved in the illegal drug trade.
Meanwhile, the Caloocan police is looking at drugs as a possible motive for the killing of a 53-year-old man in the city on Thursday night.
Probers said Danilo Amparado, of Kamagong street, Barangay 165, was driving his tricycle in Barangay Bagbaguin when he was shot.
