Patient dies as taxi hits ambulance

MANILA, Philippines – A man who was being rushed to a hospital in Pasay City died after the ambulance transporting him was hit by a taxi yesterday morning.

Robes Domingo, 48, was declared dead on arrival at the San Juan de Dios Hospital, according to a report that reached the Pasay City police headquarters. 

Initial investigation showed that as the ambulance was making its way to the hospital, it was hit by a taxi (UVU 701) at the intersection of J.W. Diokno Boulevard and Coral Way at past 7 a.m.

The taxi was driven by Henry George Agustin-Tolentino, 49.

The taxi’s passengers – Alvin Mesa, 47, and Alyssa Mae Mesa, 14 – were injured in the accident and taken to the Manila Adventist Hospital for emergency treatment. 

Tolentino told police that he lost control of the taxi. He is being held at the Pasay City police headquarters as criminal charges are being prepared against him.
