Fire destroys 3 homes in Manila

MANILA, Philippines - A fire destroyed two houses in Sta. Mesa, Manila yesterday, leaving three families homeless.

The fire started in the storage room of a house owned by the Fortich family on Guadalcanal street at past 9 a.m. It reached third alarm before it was put out less than an hour later, firefighters said.

A resident named Marilyn Monroe was among those who lost their homes.

The fire destroyed around P500,000 worth of property but no one was hurt.
