BI calls on aliens to register

Evelyn Macairan - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines – The Bureau of Immigration (BI) yesterday advised foreigners residing in the country to report to the bureau from Jan. 4 to March 3 in compliance with the government’s alien registration.

Those who will fail to appear before the BI during the 60-day period will face imprisonment or fine.

Immigration Commissioner Siegfred Mison said all registered aliens have to show up at the BI main office in Intramuros, Manila or at selected BI offices for the Annual Report (AR) 2016.

For foreigners 14 years old and below, their parents or guardians would have to report to the BI on their behalf.

“An alien may be exempted from personal appearance provided he or she has personally appeared during the previous year with an accomplished AR form, paid P500 for non-appearance and has given a special power of attorney with valid government-issued identification card to his or her legal representative,” Mison said.
