Drunk Aussie runs amuck, kicks cop

MANILA, Philippines - A drunk Australian man was arrested after he ran amuck in a barangay hall and kicked a responding police officer in Malate, Manila at dawn yesterday.

Adam Earnest La Vans, 34, currently billeted at the Bellagio condominium in Bonifacio Global City, Taguig, was charged with assault on a person in authority, damage to property and resisting arrest, according to Senior Police Officer 2 James Poso of the Manila Police District (MPD) general assignment and investigation section.

Poso said a taxi driver sought the help of a barangay official after his passengers – La Vans and his female companion – quarreled inside the cab.

They were brought to the barangay hall in Malate. But the Australian went wild, breaking the office’s glass mirror and threatening the barangay officials, prompting them to seek police assistance.

They were on their way to the MPD Station 9 when La Vans kicked Police Officer 1 Junniebeth Arce, who was driving the patrol car.
