Evelyn Macairan - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - A Colombian man believed to be a drug courier was caught carrying cocaine at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Sunday night.

Angel Andres Rodriguez Quiame yielded 52 pellets of cocaine, Bureau of Immigration Associate Commissioner Gilbert Repizo said.

Repizo said Quiame arrived at the NAIA Terminal 2 on a Philippine Airlines flight from Dubai at around 10 p.m.

Repizo, who is in charge of the bureau’s Port Operations Division, said the Drug Interdiction Task Force at the airport received information that Quiame would try to smuggle drugs into the country.

The BI coordinated with the Bureau of Customs (BOC)and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) in arresting the suspect.

After confirming that he has arrived in the country, the BI informed the PDEA and the BOC.

Quiame was turned over to the PDEA.
