11 hurt in Caloocan grenade blast

MANILA, Philippines – Eleven people, including two minors, were wounded after a grenade exploded in Camarin, Caloocan City at dawn yesterday.

Police identified the victims as Ferlande Galugdug, 28; Joweldo Obina, 34; Lelina Mamato, 52; Joseph Pelayo, 19; Anthony Ocampo, 29; Enrico Pena, 38; Francisco Villasar, 37; Renato Pena, 35; Roberto Sabosido, 23; Herman Tupas Jr., 15, and Rolando Santos, 11, all of Barangay 178, Camarin.

They were taken to the Dr. Jose Rodriguez Hospital in Barangay Tala for treatment, city police chief Senior Superintendent Bartolome Bustamante said.

Reports said the suspect, Romualdo Advincula, arrived on Sampaloc street looking for one alias “Kabeb” at past 1 a.m.

When Advincula did not find Kabeb, the suspect threw the grenade at the victims who were playing billiards.

Advincula and Kabeb engaged in a fistfight prior to the grenade blast.

Police have launched a manhunt for Advincula, who fled after the incident.
