Sleeping girl bludgeoned to death

MANILA, Philippines - A 17-year-old girl was killed by a man who broke into her house while she was sleeping in Barangay Pasong Putik, Quezon City Sunday night.

Melfrod Alinsolorin, 25, allegedly entered Marijoy Lazo’s bedroom and used a hammer to smash her skull, police said.

Lazo’s father, Denis, was at their store when he heard noises from his daughter’s bedroom. Alinsolorin allegedly attacked him when he went to check on Marijoy.

Alinsolorin tried to escape, but was caught by the Lazos’ neighbor. Marijoy was declared dead on arrival at the Commonwealth Hospital and Medical Center.

Neighbors told police Alinsolorin exhibited “unusual behavior” before the attack.

The suspect is being held at the Quezon City Police District’s Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit.
